San Francisco Symphony Orchestra bassoonist, Rob Weir, chats with Inside the Notes about his career.  Touring Mahler symphonies with Michael Tilson Thomas, performing with the Saito Kinen Orchestra, and studying with Bernard Garfield are a few of the many important moments that shaped his life as a musician.

Rob Weir joined the SFS in 1991. Born and raised in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mr. Weir trained at the Curtis Institute of Music. Prior to his appointment with the SFS, he served as principal bassoon of the Chamber Symphony of San Francisco and the California Symphony. Mr. Weir has served on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and was previously a coach for the SFS Youth Orchestra.
